A closer look at The Kew Modular Lounge Set

The Kew was designed for spaces that don't stay the same. The modular components separate and reassemble — into an L-shape, a straight sofa with footstool, or around a balcony corner that a fixed-format set would never fit. The steel-effect L-shaped feet give the arrangement a contemporary edge that most rattan sets lack.

The PE rattan is waterproof and UV-resistant across the grey finish. The 6cm sponge cushions are covered in a fabric that zips off and washes. The glass-top coffee table sits at the same height as the footstool — 32 cm — providing a low, considered surface that keeps the arrangement visually connected.

A 420D Oxford fabric cover is included: protection through autumn and winter, so the Kew is ready to reassemble when the season returns.

Yes — we deliver to all mainland UK addresses. All pieces are held in our UK warehouse, so there are no overseas wait times. Delivery is free on every order, with no minimum spend.

How long will my order take to arrive?

Orders are dispatched within 1 working day (Monday to Friday, excluding UK bank holidays). Once dispatched, delivery takes 1–3 working days. The estimated total time from placing your order is 2 to 4 working days. Orders placed before 3:00 PM (GMT) on a working day are processed the same day.

Items must be returned unused, unassembled, undamaged, and in their original packaging with proof of purchase. Please contact us at cs@rattanandrefined.co.uk before sending anything back — returns sent without prior approval cannot be processed.

Who pays for return shipping?

If you are returning an item because you've changed your mind, return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer. However, if your item arrived damaged, faulty, or incorrect, we will arrange and cover collection at no cost to you.

My order arrived damaged — what should I do?

Please email us at cs@rattanandrefined.co.uk as soon as possible with your order number and clear photos of the damage. We will assess the situation and arrange a replacement, exchange, or full refund — including free collection of the damaged item.

How long does a refund take?

Once your returned item has been received and inspected, we will notify you by email. If approved, your refund is processed to your original payment method. Depending on your bank or payment provider, refunds typically appear within 7 to 14 working days of us receiving the return.

What is the difference between natural and synthetic rattan?

Natural rattan is sourced from the rattan palm and brings organic warmth and texture to an interior. Tonal variation between pieces is a natural characteristic, not a defect. It is best suited to indoor environments, away from prolonged moisture or direct sunlight.

Synthetic (PE) rattan is a premium polyethylene weave engineered to resist UV, moisture, and heavy use without fading or warping. It has all the refinement of natural rattan and is suitable for both indoors and outdoors. Each product listing specifies which material it uses.

Can I use my furniture outdoors?

Only pieces specifically described as suitable for outdoor use in their product listing should be placed outside. These are made with synthetic PE rattan, which is weatherproof and UV-resistant. Natural rattan pieces are indoor only — prolonged exposure to moisture, rain, or direct sunlight will cause them to weaken and deteriorate.

How do I clean and look after my rattan furniture?

Both natural and synthetic rattan wipe clean with a damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. For natural rattan, keep it away from excess moisture and store indoors. For synthetic rattan garden pieces, a gentle clean with soapy water and a soft brush is ideal. Rattan naturally improves in character over time with light use.

Do I need to assemble my furniture?
