The Beginning

A belief that outdoor

We started with a simple observation: the pieces most people put in their gardens, on their terraces, in their conservatories — they were almost always an afterthought. Chosen for price, not quality. Built to last a season, not a decade.

Rattan & Refined began as a response to that. A carefully curated edit of rattan and natural fibre pieces chosen for the way they’re made, the way they age, and the way they earn their place in a room — year after year.

Every piece we carry has been selected by hand. Not for trend, but for craft.

The Craft

Rattan is one of the oldest furniture materials in the world — and one of the most misunderstood. When it’s done well, it’s extraordinarily durable, naturally beautiful, and only improves with age. When it’s done poorly, it’s exactly what most people have come to expect from garden furniture. We choose the former. Every piece in our edit is inspected for the quality of its weave, the integrity of its frame, and the finishing of every joint — because what you bring into your home should be worth keeping.
