    The Henley is a rocking egg chair in hand-woven PE rattan — a wide, cushioned basket seat on a reinforced steel rocking frame. The rocking motion is smooth and continuous, designed to relieve muscle tension rather than simply tilt the seat. The oversized 15cm tufted cushion fills the bowl of the basket completely. Suitable for indoor and outdoor use year-round.

    A closer look at The Henley Rocking Egg Chair

    The Henley introduces something that most chairs — rattan or otherwise — choose to leave out: motion. The steel rocking frame is precision-welded and reinforced to provide a smooth, continuous arc that does not jar, click, or stop unexpectedly. It is the kind of movement that encourages the body to release tension rather than resist it.

    The basket is hand-woven PE rattan in a warm brown tone, wide enough to sit with legs tucked or extended. The 15cm tufted cushion fills the bowl of the seat completely — it does not shift or compress to one side under extended use. The covers are removable and wipe clean.

    At 181 kg rated and built for year-round outdoor conditions, the Henley does not make a compromise between comfort and durability. It finds both, in the same frame.

    If you are returning an item because you've changed your mind, return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer. However, if your item arrived damaged, faulty, or incorrect, we will arrange and cover collection at no cost to you.
    Please email us at cs@rattanandrefined.co.uk as soon as possible with your order number and clear photos of the damage. We will assess the situation and arrange a replacement, exchange, or full refund — including free collection of the damaged item.
    Once your returned item has been received and inspected, we will notify you by email. If approved, your refund is processed to your original payment method. Depending on your bank or payment provider, refunds typically appear within 7 to 14 working days of us receiving the return.

    Products & Materials

    Natural rattan is sourced from the rattan palm and brings organic warmth and texture to an interior. Tonal variation between pieces is a natural characteristic, not a defect. It is best suited to indoor environments, away from prolonged moisture or direct sunlight.

    Synthetic (PE) rattan is a premium polyethylene weave engineered to resist UV, moisture, and heavy use without fading or warping. It has all the refinement of natural rattan and is suitable for both indoors and outdoors. Each product listing specifies which material it uses.
    Only pieces specifically described as suitable for outdoor use in their product listing should be placed outside. These are made with synthetic PE rattan, which is weatherproof and UV-resistant. Natural rattan pieces are indoor only — prolonged exposure to moisture, rain, or direct sunlight will cause them to weaken and deteriorate.
    Both natural and synthetic rattan wipe clean with a damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. For natural rattan, keep it away from excess moisture and store indoors. For synthetic rattan garden pieces, a gentle clean with soapy water and a soft brush is ideal. Rattan naturally improves in character over time with light use.
    Most pieces require light assembly. Each product listing specifies whether assembly is required and how involved it is. Clear, illustrated instructions are included in every box. No specialist tools are needed — a standard screwdriver is sufficient for most items. Assembly details are also listed in the Dimensions & Materials section of each product page.
    We photograph our pieces in natural light to represent colour and texture as accurately as possible. For natural rattan and wood, tonal variation is an inherent characteristic of the material — no two pieces are identical, and subtle differences in grain or weave are a sign of authenticity, not a defect. Screen calibration can also affect how colours appear, but we aim to represent every piece honestly.
