    Design details

    The Aldridge Rattan Sideboard has two large rattan panels that run as sliding doors across the full width of the cabinet face. When a door moves left or right, it uncovers open shelving on the exposed side — three shelves per column, accessible from the front without the doors being removed. Closed, both panels meet across the width and the interior disappears behind the weave.

    The rattan is an open hexagonal cane pattern — air circulates through it and humidity does not build up inside during damp weather. The frame is in a warm walnut finish with a waterproof, wipe-clean surface. The black metal legs are 15cm high, leaving enough clearance underneath to clean without moving the cabinet.

    Suited for living rooms, dining rooms and hallways. Each door slides independently, so the accessible section adjusts to what's stored inside.

    A closer look at The Aldridge Rattan Sideboard

    Sideboards are often chosen last — after the sofas, the coffee table, the rug. The Aldridge makes a case for being chosen first. An open hexagonal rattan cane cabinet in walnut finish with sliding doors and six shelves, built on the premise that good ventilation and good storage are not mutually exclusive.

    The doors are constructed from open hexagonal rattan cane — the weave allows air to circulate freely through the cabinet and into the room around it, which actively reduces humidity in enclosed spaces. The two sliding doors open to reveal six shelves across two columns, none of which require the doors to swing out into the room — useful in tighter spaces. The frame sits on 15cm black metal legs. The surface is waterproof.

    Returns & Refunds

    You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return, with no need to give a reason. Items must be returned unused, unassembled, undamaged, and in their original packaging with proof of purchase. Please contact us at cs@rattanandrefined.co.uk before sending anything back — returns sent without prior approval cannot be processed.
    If you are returning an item because you've changed your mind, return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer. However, if your item arrived damaged, faulty, or incorrect, we will arrange and cover collection at no cost to you.
    Please email us at cs@rattanandrefined.co.uk as soon as possible with your order number and clear photos of the damage. We will assess the situation and arrange a replacement, exchange, or full refund — including free collection of the damaged item.
    Once your returned item has been received and inspected, we will notify you by email. If approved, your refund is processed to your original payment method. Depending on your bank or payment provider, refunds typically appear within 7 to 14 working days of us receiving the return.

    Products & Materials

    Natural rattan is sourced from the rattan palm and brings organic warmth and texture to an interior. Tonal variation between pieces is a natural characteristic, not a defect. It is best suited to indoor environments, away from prolonged moisture or direct sunlight.

    Synthetic (PE) rattan is a premium polyethylene weave engineered to resist UV, moisture, and heavy use without fading or warping. It has all the refinement of natural rattan and is suitable for both indoors and outdoors. Each product listing specifies which material it uses.
    Only pieces specifically described as suitable for outdoor use in their product listing should be placed outside. These are made with synthetic PE rattan, which is weatherproof and UV-resistant. Natural rattan pieces are indoor only — prolonged exposure to moisture, rain, or direct sunlight will cause them to weaken and deteriorate.
    Both natural and synthetic rattan wipe clean with a damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. For natural rattan, keep it away from excess moisture and store indoors. For synthetic rattan garden pieces, a gentle clean with soapy water and a soft brush is ideal. Rattan naturally improves in character over time with light use.
    Most pieces require light assembly. Each product listing specifies whether assembly is required and how involved it is. Clear, illustrated instructions are included in every box. No specialist tools are needed — a standard screwdriver is sufficient for most items. Assembly details are also listed in the Dimensions & Materials section of each product page.
    We photograph our pieces in natural light to represent colour and texture as accurately as possible. For natural rattan and wood, tonal variation is an inherent characteristic of the material — no two pieces are identical, and subtle differences in grain or weave are a sign of authenticity, not a defect. Screen calibration can also affect how colours appear, but we aim to represent every piece honestly.
