The Harrington was designed for the hallway — a space where the absence of organisation is felt every morning. Four doors conceal six shelves of footwear storage, providing enough capacity for a household to sort shoes by season, type, or owner without visible clutter. The bamboo and MDF construction keeps the piece lightweight and warm in tone against what is often the most utilitarian room in the house. Two details separate the Harrington from a standard shoe cabinet. The first is the ventilated panel design — hollow sections within each door that allow air to circulate through stored footwear, preventing the odour build-up that a sealed unit accumulates over time. The second is the elevated base, which creates a gap between the cabinet and the floor — a practical consideration in a hallway where damp, wet shoes, and tracked-in moisture are daily realities. The three-sided raised top turns the cabinet into a deposit surface for keys, a bag, and the small objects that otherwise end up on the floor.
Each door features hollow panel sections that allow air to circulate through the cabinet interior — directly addressing the primary problem of closed shoe storage: odour. The ventilation keeps the interior dry and fresh without additional maintenance, while the panel texture adds visual detail to an otherwise flat door face.
