The Claridge is a slim flip-drawer shoe cabinet with rattan cane panel fronts — built for narrow entryways where floor space is the primary constraint. Two pull-down flip drawers provide concealed storage for 12 to 15 pairs of shoes; a fixed open shelf at the base keeps everyday footwear within immediate reach. Solid wood angled legs lift the cabinet at mid-century pitch; the flat top surface functions as a hallway landing point for keys, bags, and daily essentials.

Shoe Cabinet
Most hallways compromise — shoes left at the door, or a cabinet wide enough to organise them but deep enough to narrow the only route from the front door to the rest of the house. The Claridge was designed for the opposite: a 23.5 cm profile that fits where standard shoe storage doesn't, with the capacity to contain a full household's footwear without anything on the floor. The mechanism is the cabinet's defining feature. Two flip-down drawers drop forward on a smooth hinge, presenting the interior shelf at a natural retrieval angle. The panel closes flush with a light push. The rattan cane fronts on each drawer face keep the piece visually open — the weave reads lighter than a solid panel and connects the cabinet to the natural material language of linen, timber, and stone finishes common to contemporary hallways. An anti-tilt wall bracket is fitted to the rear, securing the cabinet when a drawer is fully extended. The open base shelf keeps daily footwear accessible without opening anything. The flat top — at arm height — handles what the floor otherwise collects.
Each drawer operates on a pull-down hinge — the panel drops forward to reveal the interior shelf at a natural access angle, then closes flush with a light push. The movement does not require the cabinet to be pulled from the wall to retrieve shoes, keeping the hallway passage clear during daily use. The odour-resistant interior finish maintains a fresh environment within a closed drawer.
A metal anti-tilt bracket is fitted to the rear of the cabinet, designed to be fixed to the wall to prevent the unit from tipping forward when a flip drawer is at full extension. In a hallway with regular, rapid use — including by children — the bracket removes the risk of the piece becoming unstable under load. The fixing point is discreet and does not require structural modification to the wall.
The flip drawer fronts are fitted with rattan cane panels — woven natural fibre set into the engineered wood frame of each door. The weave allows a degree of airflow through the closed drawer, reducing the moisture build-up that a fully sealed door face would retain. Visually, the panel texture breaks the flat surface of a standard cabinet door and connects the piece to the natural material language of the wider collection.
