    Design details

    The Oakley Rattan Bedside Table is a 60cm side unit with two storage sections stacked vertically: an open shelf at mid-height and a closed cupboard beneath it behind a rattan-panel door. The shelf opening is 10cm high and 36cm wide — enough for a phone, glasses, or a slim book flat. The cupboard behind the rattan panel is 30cm deep inside, suited to a charger, a stack of paperbacks, or a box that doesn't need to be in view.

    The frame is particle board in a natural wood-effect finish. The legs are pine, set at a slight outward splay and matching the frame tone. The rattan cane weave panel sits framed within the door face. The door opens on a hinge with a black round knob. Anti-tipping hardware is included to attach the unit to the wall if needed.

    Maximum load: 30kg. Assembly required. Works as a bedside table or as a side table next to a sofa or armchair.

    A bedside table either earns its place or fades into the background. The Oakley earns it — a compact rattan door cabinet at 39cm wide and 60cm tall, with enough surface for a lamp, a glass of water, and whatever you are currently reading.

    The single door has a woven rattan mesh panel that runs the full width and height of the cabinet face — no trim, no frame interruption, just the weave. Inside, a fixed shelf divides the storage into two sections. The frame is in a warm natural timber tone with a small recessed pull on the door. At 39cm wide, it sits beside a standard single or double bed without eating into floor space — a dimension that most bedside tables get wrong in one direction or the other.

    Returns & Refunds

    You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return, with no need to give a reason. Items must be returned unused, unassembled, undamaged, and in their original packaging with proof of purchase. Please contact us at cs@rattanandrefined.co.uk before sending anything back — returns sent without prior approval cannot be processed.
    If you are returning an item because you've changed your mind, return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer. However, if your item arrived damaged, faulty, or incorrect, we will arrange and cover collection at no cost to you.
    Please email us at cs@rattanandrefined.co.uk as soon as possible with your order number and clear photos of the damage. We will assess the situation and arrange a replacement, exchange, or full refund — including free collection of the damaged item.
    Once your returned item has been received and inspected, we will notify you by email. If approved, your refund is processed to your original payment method. Depending on your bank or payment provider, refunds typically appear within 7 to 14 working days of us receiving the return.

    Products & Materials

    Natural rattan is sourced from the rattan palm and brings organic warmth and texture to an interior. Tonal variation between pieces is a natural characteristic, not a defect. It is best suited to indoor environments, away from prolonged moisture or direct sunlight.

    Synthetic (PE) rattan is a premium polyethylene weave engineered to resist UV, moisture, and heavy use without fading or warping. It has all the refinement of natural rattan and is suitable for both indoors and outdoors. Each product listing specifies which material it uses.
    Only pieces specifically described as suitable for outdoor use in their product listing should be placed outside. These are made with synthetic PE rattan, which is weatherproof and UV-resistant. Natural rattan pieces are indoor only — prolonged exposure to moisture, rain, or direct sunlight will cause them to weaken and deteriorate.
    Both natural and synthetic rattan wipe clean with a damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. For natural rattan, keep it away from excess moisture and store indoors. For synthetic rattan garden pieces, a gentle clean with soapy water and a soft brush is ideal. Rattan naturally improves in character over time with light use.
    Most pieces require light assembly. Each product listing specifies whether assembly is required and how involved it is. Clear, illustrated instructions are included in every box. No specialist tools are needed — a standard screwdriver is sufficient for most items. Assembly details are also listed in the Dimensions & Materials section of each product page.
    We photograph our pieces in natural light to represent colour and texture as accurately as possible. For natural rattan and wood, tonal variation is an inherent characteristic of the material — no two pieces are identical, and subtle differences in grain or weave are a sign of authenticity, not a defect. Screen calibration can also affect how colours appear, but we aim to represent every piece honestly.
