    Design details

    The Lotus Pendant Light is built around a rattan weave shaped into overlapping petal layers — eight panels arranged in two tiers around a central cone, each cut and bound with a natural edge. When lit, the open weave casts a scattered pattern across the ceiling and walls. The bulb sits exposed at the centre, visible through the structure.

    The frame is metal. The petals are natural rattan, hand-woven in an open grid — the gaps in the weave are functional, not decorative: they direct the light outward and downward rather than containing it. The cable is 120cm, adjustable at the ceiling rose.

    Available in three diameters: 40cm for a bedside or alcove position, 50cm for a dining nook or kitchen table, 60cm over a dining table or as a living room centrepiece. Natural rattan responds to humidity over time — suited to indoor use in temperate rooms.

    A closer look at The Lotus Pendant Light

    Most pendant lights are chosen for how they look switched off. The Lotus works both ways — a woven rattan shade that casts a warm, textured shadow pattern across the ceiling when lit, and holds its own as an object when it isn't.

    The shade is constructed from natural rattan strand woven over a metal frame in a lotus-petal pattern, each layer overlapping slightly to create the graduated silhouette visible from below. The fitting takes an E27 bulb; a warm-toned Edison-style bulb at 2700K suits it better than a daylight bulb, which tends to flatten the shadow pattern and miss the point. Cord length is adjustable at installation. The shade is 40cm in diameter — large enough to make an impression, small enough to hang over a dining table without overwhelming it.

    Returns & Refunds

    You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return, with no need to give a reason. Items must be returned unused, unassembled, undamaged, and in their original packaging with proof of purchase. Please contact us at cs@rattanandrefined.co.uk before sending anything back — returns sent without prior approval cannot be processed.
    If you are returning an item because you've changed your mind, return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer. However, if your item arrived damaged, faulty, or incorrect, we will arrange and cover collection at no cost to you.
    Please email us at cs@rattanandrefined.co.uk as soon as possible with your order number and clear photos of the damage. We will assess the situation and arrange a replacement, exchange, or full refund — including free collection of the damaged item.
    Once your returned item has been received and inspected, we will notify you by email. If approved, your refund is processed to your original payment method. Depending on your bank or payment provider, refunds typically appear within 7 to 14 working days of us receiving the return.

    Products & Materials

    Natural rattan is sourced from the rattan palm and brings organic warmth and texture to an interior. Tonal variation between pieces is a natural characteristic, not a defect. It is best suited to indoor environments, away from prolonged moisture or direct sunlight.

    Synthetic (PE) rattan is a premium polyethylene weave engineered to resist UV, moisture, and heavy use without fading or warping. It has all the refinement of natural rattan and is suitable for both indoors and outdoors. Each product listing specifies which material it uses.
    Only pieces specifically described as suitable for outdoor use in their product listing should be placed outside. These are made with synthetic PE rattan, which is weatherproof and UV-resistant. Natural rattan pieces are indoor only — prolonged exposure to moisture, rain, or direct sunlight will cause them to weaken and deteriorate.
    Both natural and synthetic rattan wipe clean with a damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. For natural rattan, keep it away from excess moisture and store indoors. For synthetic rattan garden pieces, a gentle clean with soapy water and a soft brush is ideal. Rattan naturally improves in character over time with light use.
    Most pieces require light assembly. Each product listing specifies whether assembly is required and how involved it is. Clear, illustrated instructions are included in every box. No specialist tools are needed — a standard screwdriver is sufficient for most items. Assembly details are also listed in the Dimensions & Materials section of each product page.
    We photograph our pieces in natural light to represent colour and texture as accurately as possible. For natural rattan and wood, tonal variation is an inherent characteristic of the material — no two pieces are identical, and subtle differences in grain or weave are a sign of authenticity, not a defect. Screen calibration can also affect how colours appear, but we aim to represent every piece honestly.
